5 Places to Visit in Scotland

The Scottish people are one of the proudest people in the world and they should be, their country has the most beautiful landscapes and it has a very rich history. Here are some amazing places you cannot afford to miss out on when you get to Scotland.

This is probably Scotland’s best beach. It contains white sand on the west coast of Mull and is hugged between two headlands. It offers an amazing view of the island of Coll. The water is a gorgeous pale- blue but terribly cold but you can still swim in if you don’t mind the temperature.

2. Loch Coruisk

It looks like a dark bewitching presence with mountains crested like frozen waves. It is located in the heart of Skye’s cullin range and is only accessible by boat from Elgol as there is no road going in or out. If you decide to go on foot, you will have to walk for 7 miles and cross the notorious “bad step” which is a large rocky outcrop above the water. You must have the heart to be able to undertake this climb.

3. Glasgow

This is a beautiful city which can take your breath away. With the gothic spire of the university like a steampunk rocket set for launch and a beautiful sunrise over the squinty bridge and watch it make a halo over the Clyde.

4. The Whaligoe Steps

This is one of Scotland’s hidden treasures. It is an industrial relic built in 1792. It has a magical quality to it. It was used by fishermen to carry their catch to the market and has 337 steps down a steep cliff. No photograph can capture the magical essence of this place you just have to experience it for yourself.

5. Rannoch Moor and Glencoe

Rannoch Moor is a beautiful wilderness filled with rocks, blog and antler-shaped lochs. Glencoe intensifies this eeriness with the feeling of brooding beauty. These two contrast one another and intensifies the beauty of the area. Glencoe was the site of a historical massacre and gives off a sublime atmosphere.

I hope you will plan on visiting Scotland soon and experiencing these magical places. Happy travels. 🙂
